Thanksgiving morning
one of our local animal rescue groups
had a benefit walk (Turkey Trot).
It was wonderful to see so many mixed-breed dogs and their human companions out enjoying the brisk morning air. Toma and I accompanied our dog Maggie. I can't begin to tell you how many new urine sniffs she found on this short, but exciting little walk. A good time was had by all. There were big dogs and little dogs, young dogs and very old dogs. But the nice thing was they were all there to help some of the less fortunate animals in our communities.
It was a good way to spend Thanksgiving morning!!
How cool! I am happy Maggie had so many good sniffs!
ReplyDeleteIt's like....
If she were a human who loved to read books, news papers, magazines and stuff. And then, every now and then this human gets to go to a big library where he can "sniff" into tons of nice reads! :)
Never looked at it quite like that before, but you are right ... it would be like being in a really great book store! ;o)
ReplyDeleteI listened to this author one night while on duty talk about dogs and their sniffers...

Read the short excerpt of Chapter 3.
A dog's sense of smell is overwhelming to me.
...and by the way...I'm happy Maggie was able to take you out for a walk!!
;-)
A dog allowed to be just a dog...how joyous.
