Have Shovel, Will Travel

It seems that the only thing that I have to talk about is SNOW.  But then we have lots of SNOW to talk about.  Anybody need some? I will have to say that I am a bit sick of  all this shoveling.  What makes it more troublesome is that my injured ribcage is still not 100%, and because of all this blasted shoveling, it probably won't be 100% any time soon!  Yes, it does sound like I'm feeling sorry for myself, but yes, I will get over it!!!

Recipe for Sore Ribs
1 Hour of Barn Chores
Add 1 path of shoveled snow
(to get to the barn)
Add 1 path of shoveled snow
(to get to the manure pile)
Add 2 shoveled areas for horses to stand
Stir, boil, and then simmer until Very Tired!

If only I could teach just one of these guys to shovel SNOW!
But as you can see
they would rather eat and rest
while I do the work.
Now I ask myself,
"Who is the Beast of Burden"?

  1. I know that feeling so well, a long winter can be very tiring. As nice as you have it there in (your part) Colorado, beautiful nature surroundings, lots of snow (which will melt and give the soil a good spring moisture), dealing with snow again and again is no fun.
It is hard to find peace in it, especially when you have animals. If it weren't for them, we would only touch snow for fun, right? But animals are fun too and they need us. Cleo for instance, with her short legs, wants to have fun too, and that means we (mostly Ingrid) have to go out every day and find a spot where she can walk and run without vanishing IN the snow.
It is good that you guys have "GUS II" (sorry, forgot your current little tractors name).
Anyways, it is good to know that spring is just around the corner...

  2. What a nice reward - those beautiful horses eating their hay. I can imagine it doesn't get any better than this for them in this kind of weather. Nice photographs.

I hope you are feeling better. I don't get to do any shoveling nowadays. I don't get to do much period. I can't even if I wanted to.

  3. LOL...I'm so sorry I had to chuckle. THAT is hard work!

Hubby uses the skid steer and plows out a path to the house, to the pump, to the...well everywhere.

My yard suffers horribly from it, but in the deep snow I appreciate it.

Even when he knocked a review mirror off his truck...
at least I didn't do it!

    Great shots.
    Rest up!
    Spring should come soon.

  4. The animals have it made! I feel your pain when it comes to snow. I hope that your ribs are feeling better soon. I can't imagine how hard shoveling is while you are injured. Thanks for the note and pictures.

Your pictures are lovely as always.
